Seven-Card Stud vs. Texas Hold'em

The major differences between Seven-Card Stud and Texas Hold'em are that in Seven-Card Stud:

1. there are no community cards.
2. an ante and a bring-in bet are used instead of blinds.
3. there are five betting rounds as compared to four in Hold'em.
4. the player who shows the best hand starts the action on every betting round, except for the first round of betting when the lowest upcard begins.
5. you must remember the folded upcards.
6. the number of players is limited to a maximum of eight.
7. there is no positional advantage before the cards are dealt. The cards determine who acts first and last on every betting round.
8. there is a larger short-term luck factor. This means that the standard deviation is greater and the game requires a larger bankroll.
