The November Nine

    The final table of the Main Event is set at the 2008 World Series of Poker and the final nine participants have been set loose unto the world for four months of hard-core publicity before returning to Las Vegas for the grand finale in November.

    Leading the way is chip leader Dennis Phillips, an account manager for a commercial trucking firm out of St. Louis, Mo. He's joined by Moscow's Ivan Demidov, Canadians Scott Montgomery and Darus Suharto, Dane Peter Eastgate, Californians Kelly Kim and David "Chino" Rheem, Texan Craig Marquis and Brooklyn's Ylon Schwartz.

    Action has been paused for 117 days but PokerListings.com will return with the thrilling conclusion beginning November 9 from Sin City. In the meantime just try and avoid hearing about those November Nine as the tension (and hype) builds up in the race for the $9,119,517 first prize.

Tournament Rules

  • Play will begin on days 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D at 12 pm.
  • All Levels will last 120 minutes.
  • Players may select their first day of play until that day based upon availability
  • Play will continue on day 1A, 1B, 1C and 1D until the completion of level 5.
  • Dinner will be after 3 levels of play each day and will last 90 minutes.
  • Day 2A – Remaining players from Days 1A & 1B will be combined together and resume play at 12 PM, on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, and play 5 levels.
  • Day 2B – Remaining players from Days 1C & 1D will be combined together and resume play at 12 PM, on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, and play 5 levels.
  • Day 3 – Remaining players from Days 2A & 2B will be combined together and resume play at 12 PM, on Thursday, July 10, 2008, and play 5 levels.
  • Day 4 - play will continue at 12 PM, on Friday, July 11, 2008, and play 5 levels.
  • Day 5 - play will continue at 12 PM, on Saturday, July 12, 2008, and play 5 levels.
  • Day 6 - play will continue at 12 PM, on Sunday, July 13, 2008 and play down to 27 players.
  • Day 7 - play will continue at 12 PM, on Monday, July 14, 2008 and play down to 9 players.
  • After the final table is reached, play will be suspended until November 9th.
  • The Final Table will resume play at 10 AM on Sunday, November 9, 2008 and play down to the final two players.
  • The final two players will play out the championship beginning at 10 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2008.
  • Adjustments may be made to the number of levels played each day.
  • Players begin with $20,000
