Pacific Poker Software
Software Summary
The Pacific Poker software is privately owned and developed and shares no player base outside the 888 network.
The poker room's software has been through several updates since the site launched, but in May 2007 - and again in early '08 - it underwent some significant changes.
The previously ok software is now a veritable monster offering superb search functions, 3-D avatars, mini-view functions for multi-tabling, instant access to the cashier, bingo and casino games, and a vastly improved look and feel.
Among the new features: Three table views to choose from, six action buttons in every view, info boxes right at the table during tournaments showing key stats like players remaining and stack sizes, and a new unique sit-and-go tab.
To accommodate more players, Pacific Poker has also now added a no-download client. The new software is very competent, giving players the same basic functionality as the download client, although some 3D graphics and a few cosmetic features have been left out.
Overall, the people at the 888 network have developed very good poker software while keeping some of the more useful advanced buttons of the original design, including check/fold and other smart in-game actions.
Statistics
The data and statistics functions in Pacific Poker's software allow you to take notes on your opponents during play, and the lobby supplies vital table statistics like viewed-flop percentage, average pot size, seated-player's stack size and hands played per hour.
Players can view their previous hands in a unique action replay interface that shows the player how the hand played out. Hand histories are less user-friendly and take some time to work with.
Multi-Table
The latest version of Pacific Poker's software supports play at four tables simultaneously. Multi-table play usually runs smoothly and the mini-view functions allow for four tiled or cascaded tables at standard resolution.
There is also smart functionality for turning off chat massages, changing your table view and in tournaments a player can view the tournament stats without leaving the table.
Another smart addition recently is the "confirm all-in" feature that allows players to add an alert message every time they are about to go all in. This feature is no doubt an excellent way of preventing very costly mistakes when multi-tabling.
Graphics
The graphics at Pacific Poker were vastly improved through the latest upgrade. The software now comes with customization, 3-D avatars, different backgrounds, different card deck designs and a completely new and improved look and feel.
The table functions are easy to learn and well oriented on the table, making playing a pleasure. The table is a nice green, with interchangeable graphic features.Special Features
The Pacific Poker software offers the basic features and comes as both a download version and a Java client. The latest upgrade has also added one of the best search functions on the market.
Some of the site's unique features are an all-in verification button to prevent accidental all-ins, chat callouts right at the table and an action replay that allows players to replay hands in a graphic interface.
